Training, Ethics & Professional Standards
I trained as a psychotherapist in London at Regent’s University and the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE), qualifying with a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy. This is enriched by a Diploma in Spiritual Direction (OXCACS, Oxford) and a Diploma in Orthodox Theology (IOCS, Cambridge).
I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a Senior Accredited member of the Association of Christians in Counselling and Linked Professions (ACC) with over two decades of clinical experience, operating in strict accordance with their ethical frameworks and safeguarding policies. My practice aligns with Column C of the SCoPEd framework—the highest clinical tier recognised by the UK’s leading professional bodies.
My clinical work is grounded in a profound respect for the inherent depth and integrity of the human person, providing a safe, strictly confidential, and inclusive framework for people of all faiths and none. My practice is informed by ongoing academic and clinical research into the fracturing of the human psyche at the intersection of history, tradition, and healing.
Vocational & Creative Life
Prior to my clinical psychotherapy training, my professional background was grounded in operational management and senior leadership within the mid-tier and corporate sectors. Supported by a Masters Degree (MBA) specialising in leadership and psychodynamic group behaviour, my background provides a demystified, real-world understanding of the unique isolation, systemic pressure, and psychological toll inherent to high-accountability roles.
I provide a steady, grounded clinical presence for people navigating the heavy demands of these environments, as well as those contending with the specific pressures of ecclesiastical ministry.
This clinical work supports the restoration of a stable inner core of integrity, allowing the person to meet the demands of their life not through exhaustion or persona, but from a place of anchored freedom and genuine agency. This understanding of identity and persona dynamics extends to my work with artists; as an accomplished and active musician, I bring a nuanced perspective to the internal pressures and boundary dissolutions often inherent to the creative life.
Continuity of Place
The website name Kova Kevenna is Cornish for ‘Deep Memory’. Informed by a deep relationship to place, history, culture, and tradition, my work provides a grounded vantage point for examining how the realities of place and belonging—and the trauma of severance—shape the fundamental structure of the person.
This offers a stable, enduring perspective for those contending with the modern sense of being ‘out of place’—where a life of external demand results in a precarious detachment from one’s own history and foundational sense of belonging.
